What can I do for the pain, discomfort, and to get back to normal? Can anyone suggest any 1 armed jobs?

In early August, I suffered a 4th degree separation of my AC,after landing on my right shoulder from a riding accident-it was sticking up bad. 6 weeks later, once the surgeon got in arthoscopically,he found a large tear in rotator cuff, bursitus, and bone spurs, and repaired all. This has caused a great deal of pain and a much longer recovery time. He doesn't want to prescribe pain meds, to prevent addiction. I do therapy twice a week, but still worry about it freezing up.This was way more than expected, and I have virtually lost my job,as a meat wrapper(only held for the legal 12 weeks)leaving me with no income! What can I do? My background is retail, food industry, cashier, and working with horses. I can't collect disability, cuz it has to be a year or more-recovery time, and the doc says maybe 6 months. Please any suggestions on any or all of my dilemmas will be much appreciated. I'm only 43 and generally in good health. I miss doing yoga, but you need both arms for most all poses.

For the yoga bit: http://www.ehow.com/how_2089732_do-one-l... :How to Do the One-Legged One-Armed Downward Facing Dog Yoga Pose

this is just one pose I know of.

For the jobs thing: You can do alot with one arm. You can still take care of horses and ride them and everything. You can still cashier, work in retail and food industry. Im very sorry about your arm and I hope it gets to working properly but dont think of this as such a negative thing. It gives you a chance to learn new ways to do things. Hope Ive helped
Reply:I know this could help you in two ways. It really does stop inflamation and you can make money selling and getting others to sign up go to www.mxi.myvoffice.com/gerrydnorquay
Reply:I am a little older than you now but at the age of 45 or so I had to start including God in my life. You have a medical Dr. for your physical being...Start to look into the spiritual being...I don't meditate as such I have learned to pray to include my HIGH POWER into all that I do.....
Reply:First off, consider another doctor as this is a painful injury. As you have stated, there is possibility that it could freeze up permanently, and restricting movement due to excessive pain won't help you.

Reconsider a cashier position or retail. You should be able to do those - including front counter line in food service. Hope you are ok in the long run.
Reply:Consult another doc for a second opinion.

I am sorry for your injury, but no one made you go ridding.

What was your previous job? Does your state not take ion consideration the other jobs you have held in distributing funds?

How about the regular unemployment in your state?

Do you belong to a church that might help out?
Reply:You have my sympathy, it sounds very painful. How about a job at a call centre? Then you can sit down and dont need hands much.
Reply:Greetings

Its very hard recovering from any form or change, you have my sympathy, however you may wish to see if you can find an accupuncturist to help get the energy flow happening again in your aarm, dont give up and good luck.
Reply:During my fifteen year journey in recovery, one thing that always comes around and around for me is the question of trust. Where am I ready to surrender and trust the universe, god as I understand him/her, or whatever works? Where am I still trying to control things?

Have you allowed yourself to surrender and trust in what your God of your understanding has in store for you?

I have written an article on faith is you care to read it at http://cherylfreirecoverycoaching.com/bl...

I hope I have supported you. much love and light, ~Cheryl
